4.I a. bound to record my conviction that

the list referred to is a genuine cocument. It has been en-

dorsed by the verdict of the Jury in Witchell's case, and is

supported by the fact that Sergeant Hoit practically pleat-

ed guilty to having received bribes.

In every case in which the entries in the

list have been tested by investigation, they and the state-

ments that Sanyin made in explanation of the have been

found to be correct.

Personally I believe that Chief Inspector

Corcoran heard of the ganoling house and that others were

receiving money from it, and like Witchell asked for a share

in the hush money.

I find it therefore that the conuict of the

Chief Inspector who has asked to retire on pension has been

uniformly good.
